💜 Lilacs are beautiful, but can quickly lose their vibrancy and beauty once placed in a vase.
Don't deprive yourself of this gift of nature and life to breathe the incomparable scent of lilac in your home. I have a few secrets for you!
Here are some tips to extend the life of cut lilacs:
- First, harvest lilacs when half (1/2) or three-quarters (3/4) of the flowers in the cluster are open.
- Remove as many or all of the leaves from the lilac stems. If you like lilac leaves, then cut stems exclusively of leaves that you can add to your bouquet.
- Using your pruners, recut the ends of the stems by making a VERTICAL incision on the stem 5 to 8 centimeters long.
- Immediately plunge the cut stems into fresh water.
- Feel free to move your flowers to a cooler place overnight. Whether it's outdoors or on a sheltered terrace, for example, so they can breathe fresh air. It is even possible to put them in the refrigerator.
A bouquet of flowers lives for about a week when it is well cared for.
Some flowers are beautiful dried.
Have fun and extend the beauties of nature!
