🌷 How to make your tulip bouquet last longer?

Extending the magic of your tulips: all our secrets

There are some flowers that touch us more than others, and tulips are among them. A symbol of renewal, they herald spring with grace and delicacy.

But they also have their own little character. They love the cold, they don't like the sun, and they keep moving even in your vase. Here's how to really take care of them.

Cold is their secret

If there's one thing to remember to make your tulips last as long as possible, it's this: they love the cold.

  • Change the water every two days - this is key!!
  • Fill your vase with very cold water, with ice cubes.
  • Trim the stems at the bottom, about every two days.
  • And in the evening, you can even put your bouquet in the fridge!

Yes, yes, in the fridge. At La Pivoinerie, our tulips sleep between three and four degrees in our cold room. A real Nordic spa for flowers. At home, the fridge works perfectly for the night.

That's it. That's really the secret.

Away from the sun and heat

Heat and direct sunlight make your tulips open much too quickly. And a flower that opens quickly is a flower that fades quickly.

Place your bouquet in a cool, shaded corner of the house. Your tulips will thank you by staying beautiful much longer.

Let them dance

This is the most beautiful and poetic thing about tulips: they are the only flowers that continue to grow in the vase.

They stretch, they lean, they always gracefully bend. It's their personality. It's their show.

Some ideas to highlight their flexibility:

  • Slip a few leaves into the bouquet to dress up the whole arrangement.
  • Cut some stems short to create a low, round arrangement.
  • Give your most beautiful flowers their own bud vase, that small, narrow vase that highlights a single stem.

Then step back. Watch them move. Enjoy their show. Each tulip has its own personality; let it express itself.

Savoring the ephemeral

We wish flowers would last forever. But it's precisely their fragility, their ephemeral nature, that makes them so precious.

Enjoy every stage of your tulips' development. From the first day you picked them, to the last petal falling on the table. That's the true magic of fresh flowers.

Because a bouquet, for us, isn't just flowers. It's an emotion. It's a moment we want to prolong.

Take care of your tulips as you would something you love. And we can't wait to see you again for peonies in June! 🌸
